Sabres re-sign McCabe to 3-year, $4.8 million contract

The University of Wisconsin product is coming off a season in which he established a regular role in Buffalo.

Now, the team is rewarding that performance with a multi-year extension.

The game at Pegula Ice Arena will mark the first time the Sabres have played a preseason game in a non-NHL arena since a 2011 exhibition game against Adler Mannheim (DEL) at SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany.

The Sabres are owned by Terry Pegula, who joined with his wife, Kim, to donate $102 million to Penn State to fund the state-of-the-art Pegula Ice Arena and establish an NCAA Division I men’s hockey program in 2010.

The Sabres reportedly were set to play a preseason game in Rochester on September 26, but they instead will face Minnesota in Pegula Ice Arena at Penn State. It was his first full season in the NHL after playing 2014-15 with Rochester of the American Hockey League, where he had five goals and 29 points in 57 games.

The pre-sale for Nittany Lion Club members and men’s hockey season ticket holders for all 2016-17 Penn State individual games will be August 4 to 8. There will be a ticket limit for all games during the NLC pre-sale, with details to be announced.

In May, the Penn State Board of Trustees approved limited alcohol sales at Penn State athletic venues.

The pre-sale for Nittany Lion Club members and men’s hockey season ticket holders for all 2016-17 Penn State individual games will be August 4-8. But at professional sports events hosted at the venues, including Pegula Ice Arena, controlled, general sales can be made in other 21-and-over ticket holders.
