Sacha Baron Cohen unveils new alter-ego Nobby in ‘Grimsby’
Never let it be said that Sacha Baron Cohen struggles to make an impression.
But the one thing missing is his little brother Sebastian (Strong), from whom he was separated as a child.
Supported by his wife Isla Fisher, who laughed as he joked about the teenage pregnancy rates in the town, told reporters: “Grimsby is the greatest place on Earth”.
The controversial film follows football hooligan father-of-nine Nobby from Grimsby, who is happily settled with his girlfriend, played by Rebel Wilson. Nobby sets off to reunite with Sebastian, unaware that not only is his brother MI6’s deadliest assassin, he’s just uncovered plans for an imminent global terrorist attack.
Daniel doesn’t actually appear in the film, a lookalike does instead and we see him accidentally swallow some of the infected blood of an AIDs sufferer who was shot at a charity event.
He was escorted off the red carpet after pouring them on host Ryan Seacrest.
Sacha attended the London premiere with his real life wife Isla Fisher.
Co-star Strong said he got on “really well” with Cohen.
Fans were also treated to the spectacle of the actor as flamboyant fashion critic Bruno in 2009.
However, speaking at the premiere, director Louis Leterrier insisted: “It’s kind of a homage to Grimsby”.
“It’s definitely not a normal relationship”, she reportedly said, “You know there have been times in the past with the guerrilla style film of Borat and Bruno where there were surreal conversations: ‘How many people are suing us?”
