Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant appear to have two different views of their relationship.

When Simmons brought up what it was like for him to leave his pervious employer, ESPN, Durant, who left the Oklahoma City Thunder this summer as a free agent, spoke about how he doesn’t take personal rivalries home with him. Durant announced his move to the Warriors on July 4, while Westbrook signed a contract extension on August 4 that runs through 2019 with an opt-out clause in summer 2018. I hear all the time that Michael [Jordan] hated such and such, that Isiah [Thomas] hated such and such.

People said he was taking the easy way out by joining the Warriors, who just finished with the best regular-season record in league history before blowing a 3-1 lead in the Finals.

“When we play, I’m not even thinking about you”, he said.

When presented with that statement, Westbrook responded with a pause and said, “I haven’t talked with him”. I don’t care about all that stuff. He’s not going to want to fight me. The work doesn’t stop. Just about everyone accepted that reality long ago and moved on to being mad about other things.

Westbrook also said he didn’t know what to expect of being the main leader next season, especially playing without Durant for the first time.

“After being with Russ for a few weeks, I realized that there’s a goal for everything that he does”, Oladipo said. So I had to stand firm on it, no matter who agreed with me or not. I don’t take it for granted.

“That’s pretty much all we need, know what I mean?” I love you, man.

A lot of people try to tear you down when you make a decision that makes them uncomfortable, or it makes them upset.

The Oklahoma City Thunder probably shouldn’t have traded James Harden when they did, back in 2012. “There are plenty of times I could have quit in this whole lifestyle I’m in”. So how am I weak when I’m at the top, elite level of my profession and just chose to play for a different time? “I think that’s the biggest thing for our team is just to make sure all the guys are having fun”.

“No one cares about what I want as a person”. But I don’t carry that with me as soon as I step off the court. Why should I care about what they think if they don’t really care about me as a whole?

The Warriors open training camp next week and play their first preseason game October 1.
