Sage Northcutt Turns to Nick & Nate Diaz After UFC on FOX Loss
Gall vs. Northcutt served as the co-main event of UFC on FOX 22, which marked the organization’s return to Sacramento, California. on Saturday evening.
All of that said, Gall’s submission finish was pretty slick, as well. Northcutt scrambled and Gall applied a guillotine choke.
Round 2: Picking up right where they left off, Northcutt tagged Gall with another hook in the center of the Octagon. That bad blood spilled over into the beginning of the second, but Gall cut things short when he floored Northcutt with a wild overhand right that landed behind the ear. Northcutt tried to escape out of the choke but couldn’t and had no choice but to tap at the 1:40 mark. However, each and every one of those victories came against somebody with no prior professional experience.
“I’d like to welcome back Dan Hardy – he’s coming back, and said he wants a marquee fight”.
His second rear naked choke in three months, against Mike Jackson in both men’s UFC debuts, offered up the chance for what is already an iconic promo. I train at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie New Jersey.
Getting under Sage Northcutt’s skin was a tactic Mickey Gall was hoping to accomplish and he did with the amount of trash talking Northcutt did. I like the way Conor [McGregor] went down to [145lbs] and suffered and made that and he made himself a champion, made himself a star. “I think I’ll go down there, I’ll be the champion in a couple of years”. So Gall probably won’t get the Hardy fight, but I give him props for saying a name – a big one, for that matter. And he didn’t the whole time, I was just like, ‘Ah, he’s such a sweet kid and he’s not going to do it.’ But it came out in the fight and you saw how the fight went down and I think that helped me. He notably got an offer after Saturday’s loss from lightweight TUF victor Michael Chiesa to personally train him before his next fight.
Dan Hardy hasn’t fought since 2012 due to a health issue but he’s been talking about a comeback for over a year. I want “Super” Sage Northcutt. “I’d love to fight Dan Hardy”.
Even though Mickey Gall is 3-0 in UFC and 4-0 overall in MMA, he is still a ways before he can even compete for rankings for the UFC Welterweight Title. For 20-year-old Northcutt, he’s lost two of his last three outings.
