Sakho signs long-term Liverpool deal
Sakho, 25, will play on 17 September against Bordeaux as the club begin their Europa League campaign, according to manager Brendan Rodgers, who also claimed Liverpool are eager to offer the former Paris Saint-Germain defender a new contract.
Norwich are now level with Liverpool on seven points following an encouraging start to their battle for Barclays Premier League survival.
I am very happy to sign a long-term contract with Liverpool because, as I’ve always said, I am very happy here and my family are happy in Liverpool. This is what we as players wanted last season; to play against the best in the league.
He said: “As the game wore on they combined with the other players and I thought they acquitted themselves well”.
Joe Gomez, Jordon Ibe and Danny Ings also all featured as Liverpool came away from the south of France with a point.
The Merseyside club have slumped to back-to-back Premier League losses against West Ham United and Manchester United and the Northern Irishman, who has been criticised by sections of the fans and media, is troubled by the manner of the defeats.
Sakho, though, has moved to reassure supporters the players are desperate to transform their fortunes.
If they don’t manage to turn it around tonight, Rodgers might really start to fear for his job.
“It (the lack of goals) has been an ongoing issue for a little while now but we will get there, and the players coming back will enhance that quality in the team and give us a greater opportunity to score goals”.
“We have three home games left and if we get three wins from them it will be good for us”. “I am happy to stay as a Scouser!”. I never change, before and after – I stay as Mama!
“I think it is good I have an identity as a coach and a way of working that is clear”.
The high-profile journalist took to Twitter to identify the French global as “one of a dozen or more players LFC have overpaid for”. Everyone needs everyone in the squad.
“I don’t need to tell Brendan that, he will understand that, but results have to pick up”.
“The most important thing is everyone must have the same mentality because we have to work for this country – Liverpool country!”
“I think you saw that in his performance last night”.
