Salleh dismisses Mahathir’s remarks on Najib’s premiership
Malaysia was well run for decades since independence but matters have taken a turn for the worse under the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Razak, the country’s longest serving prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today. Intimidation was now a strategy, he said, giving as an example the arrest of former Batu Kawan Umno leader Khairuddin Abu Hassan, who has lodged police reports overseas against the government investment arm 1Malaysia Development Bhd, implicating Najib who is 1MDB adviser.
The minister noted that in 2013, Najib led Barisan Nasional in the general election and the ruling coalition won that election.
Writing within tim’s blog page, Dr Mahathir stated that Najib’s admininstration has grown to be very unpopular and despite dispensing some money to them, the pm appeared to be turned-down via the voters among the 2013 standard vote.
Kadir challenged Najib to show faith in the U.S. justice system and allow Khairuddin to provide the Federal Bureau of Investigation with documents that he claims to have in his possession, which Najib has claimed to be false and doctored.
“Najib should have just focused on the Malay voters, said Dr Mahathir”, Salleh recalled.
“At least there were no allegations of fraud during the party elections and Najib did not deregister UMNO to cover up that fraud like what Bapa Merdeka, the late Tunku Abdul Rahman, alleged Dr Mahathir did in 1987”, he said.
Salleh said it was Abdullah who appointed Najib as his deputy, and if anyone could claim that he made Najib the prime minister, then probably Abdullah was the one who could make that claim. “But now I want him removed”.
“So it was not the Prime Minister who played the race card”.
The rally organisers portrayed the Bersih protests (August 29-30, which demanded political reforms and Najib’s resignation) as a non-Malay conspiracy to take over the country.
“Only his ceasing to be the Prime Minister of Malaysia will the economy recover, the Ringgit revalued up, and cost of living go down”.
