Salt Lake City man says he didn’t place ad seeking wife
“I can’t even describe to you how embarrassing and ridiculous this is”, the 48-year-old bachelor told The Spokesman-Review.
Brooks had no idea about the elegant ad, which features tasteful touches, such as red roses and the specification that he is looking for a wife with “proportional height and weight”.
The ad, which purports to be written from Brooks’ perspective, specifies his future wife “will probably be between the ages of 34-38 but that can be flexible”.
Brooks says he is furious with his father for causing such embarrassment, but because he doesn’t want to hurt his feelings, he’s letting his father interview any inquiring bachelorettes that are deemed suitable.
“I will let him have his fun and who knows?”
Brooks said he will not try to stop his father’s plans. Any potential candidates must be willing and able to have children as soon as possible and expect to be a stay at home mum!
Brooks, a Los Angeles native who moved to Utah 10 years ago for his business, was obviously mortified by the ad.
The ad says Arthur Brooks will be conducting interviews Saturday at The Coeur d’Alene Resort.
“What am I supposed to do?” “No sense in defusing a bomb once it’s already gone off”.
When asked about his father’s demeanor, Barron Brooks said he’s “passive-aggressive” and “neurotic”.
“That’s my dad: stumbles into stuff, has a loud mouth, thinks he does the right thing, and then it all blows up in his face”, he said. “And most Jewish girls are quite liberal, and that doesn’t work for me”.
Brooks said his father, who is ill, is desperate for grandchildren to carry on the family name. Deal breakers include anyone who has voted for Obama or Hillary Clinton, stating: “You must be politically conservative”. This may align with Arthur’s own political beliefs after he was allegedly drawn to Coeur d’Alene for its conservative politics, according to The Spokesman Review. But Brooks said he will have a talk with his dad once this is over.
