Salvation Army kicks off Red Kettle Campaign
Angel Tree and the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign make it possible for families in West MI to celebrate the holidays with gifts, meals and other support.
The Salvation Army feeds thousands of people every day and Thanksgiving is no different.
For weeks, the students have organized boxes of food donated by the church, families, and local businesses.
“We are so grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who help us bring hope and dignity to our community’s most vulnerable”, says Salvation Army spokesperson Perron Goodyear. “We’re just blessed that we’re able to help them”.
“Whenever you can give back, it’s always pretty awesome”, 1st Lt. Chris McIntire, the commander of the Rockford Post, said.
It’s too late to sign up for a free Thanksgiving meal this year, but there’s still time to sign up for a free Christmas meal.
Thanksgiving came a few days early for many in Warren.
Members of the public can drop-off a new unwrapped gift for a child aged up to 16 years, at Malton Salvation Army, 40 Wood Street, Norton, before December 13 or phone 01653 693344.
“It’s been a blessing because you see so many people together doing good instead of seeing people not doing good”, said Barbara Strother of Warren.
