Salvation Army ringing away to help the needy
However, rather than going out to shop on Black Friday this year, Benson and his family are helping the Salvation Army get ready to help needy families for Christmas in the Magic Valley.
The Salvation Army is also kicking off its annual Red Kettle Campaign this week, with a goal of raising $110,000.
At least 260 people were in attendance by the time the event was halfway over, they were expected over 400 people to join in on the food throughout the day. He hopes more people take notice and reach out to those in need.
Currently, several churches and the Cub Scouts are assisting, but everyone in the community is encouraged and invited to help.
Captain Chris said they were also looking for other items to help spread the Christmas cheer.

The Thanksgiving Luncheon is just one of the many projects the Salvation Army puts together for community during the Holiday season.
In 2014, The Salvation Army served more than 117,000 Wake County citizens through its various programs.
“We fundraise, we do benefits, and we help out the people in need”, said club president Jesus Contreras.
“My parents were Salvation Army officers and their parents before them”.
