Salvation Army starts Red Kettle Campaign
At 11:00am the first gift of the season will be donated in the famous red kettle along with Christmas music by The Salvation Army brass band.
Area manager Christine Westwood said: “There’s no time like Christmas to help out at a Salvation Army shop”.
The Salvation Army’s kettle campaign is getting underway and this year the charity is hoping to raise $470,000. Maj.
Well it all goes straight back to the local community to aid those who need a little help. “The more volunteers and spots we can fill that way, the less costs there are which means there’s more money to be able to utilize for services”.
By volunteering your time to supervise a Christmas Kettle, you can help us to ensure the funds raised are used to support the programs that benefit our community.
“We have more hustle and bustle in the store”.
Volunteers are needed to ring bells Fridays and Saturdays before Thanksgiving, and every day of the week except Sundays after Thanksgiving.
Her donation will help this organization provide Christmas to 1,850 families – giving them food for a week and presents for kids.
There are nine Salvation Army Corps (facilities) in ME that offer services and programs for children, adults and seniors.
In the next two days almost five thousand coats will be given out at the Salvation Army’s temporary location in Kimberly, next to the Fox valley Christian Fellowship Church. Money that won’t just get the shelter through what could be their busiest season yet, but most of the year.
And as the end of the year approaches people tend to do a few cleaning out.
Bu this year, they’re hoping for even more so families can enjoy the most wonderful time of the year. “We will make sure everyone gets a hot turkey meal”.
