Sam Bradford: Vikings won’t reveal QB starter until Sunday
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – When Adrian Peterson was talking with his teammates about which quarterbacks the Minnesota Vikings could acquire, Sam Bradford’s name wasn’t on the list. The Titans host the Vikings on Sunday.
The visiting Vikings are currently rotating their quarterback carousel with Teddy Bridgewater now out for the entire season.
When they drew this one up on paper before the season, it should have been written down as a Vikings victory-a 2015 division victor versus a team that finished at the bottom of a poor division. Sam Bradford, acquired shortly after Teddy Bridgewater suffered a season-ending knee dislocation and ACL tear, has been getting positive reviews since his arrival from Philadelphia.
Will Vikings desperation move pay off?
Adrian Peterson is their go-to guy in most circumstances, and even more so now with the loss of Bridgewater. Of course, Bradford will need to make a few throws and convert a respectable amount of third downs. The 31-year-old joined Marion Motley and Curtis Martin as the only players in history to lead the National Football League in rushing at the age of 30 or older.
When Vikings general manager Rick Spielman was asked on ESPN’s NFL Insiders on Friday if he believed it was valuable for the Vikings to keep their starting quarterback a secret, Spielman said, “I think it’s extremely valuable”.
It’s unknown if Zimmer has any intention of playing Bradford against Tennessee, but that will surely be determined by their 36-year-old’s ability to lead the offense Sunday. That might be seven.
“I don’t know all the fancy words”.
After listening to the back-and-forth banter over the weekend, I chose to reach out to some of my contacts within the league to get their take on the blockbuster deal. “I think it will help us in a lot of ways”. I was judged before I was actually judged, you know? The majority of the Vikings defense remains, the same defense that allowed only 18.9 points per game last season, good for 5th fewest in the NFL.
With nine touchdowns, he’ll pass Jim Brown for fifth all-time.
Peterson recorded his seventh 1,000-yard season in 2015, with 1,485 yards and 11 touchdowns, and although he’s ancient by running back standards at 31, he shows no signs of slippage.
Hill got the majority of first-team snaps during the brief open portions of Vikings’ practices on Monday and Wednesday, and the quarterbacks were splitting first-team snaps on Thursday.
You can look for an exceptional battle in the trenches as Minnesota’s deep and talented defensive front looks to get the best of a Titans offensive line featuring three first-round draft choices in tackles Taylor Lewan (2014) and rookie Jack Conklin (2016) and guard Chance Warmack (2013).
“It is a challenge, not like it’s going to be where there’s two completely different styles”, he said of preparing for both quarterbacks.
