Sam Smith On Track To Make History With New James Bond Theme
Disclosure are “so proud” to have worked on Sam Smith’s James Bond theme.
That’s right, Sam Smith’s brand new Bond theme Writing’s on the Wall has touched down at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart today, and it is a feat that nobody has ever done before.
The single, written for the upcoming film “Spectre“, sold more than 70,000 units, which was 13,000 more than No. 2, Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?“.
The previous highest-charting Bond themes were Adele’s “Skyfall” in 2012 and Duran Duran’s “View To A Kill” in 1985, which both peaked at number two.
“I had to lie through my teeth, which isn’t much fun”, Sam told Britain’s The Sun newpsaper “My lying is really good now, when you say ‘genuinely” people believe it’. Smith is likely to be dislodged from the top spot before Spectre opens in the United Kingdom on October 26th. He’s just one of those guys – he’s got that aura around him.
On Wednesday, the recording star shared a photo on Instagram showcasing a sneak peek of the video to his James Bond theme song called Writing’s on The Wall.
Smith’s emotionally wrought take on the Bond theme tune was greeted with a mixed response from critics and fans.
According to Smith, however, Mendes had tweaked the lyrics to make sure Bond did not seem too vulnerable.
