Sam Smith releases James Bond ‘Spectre’ theme song
The theme song for the new James Bond film Spectre, sung by chart-topper Sam Smith, has received a mixed reaction after airing this morning on Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 breakfast show.
“If I risk it all / Could you break my fall?” he adds.
“The pressure to deliver a Bond song that stands against all the rest feels quite intense”, the British singer told The Sun newspaper in an interview Friday.
“I don’t think it’s a number one friendly song”. One scathing reviewer wrote, “Great cover of “Earth Song“, mate”.
But it’s a really close call between this and “You Know My Name” by Chris Cornell. “I just want to do it justice”. Do not cut, copy or lift any content from this website without our consent.
And Sam is pleased that some people have made comparisons between his track and previous theme tune Goldfinger. “That’s kind of what we were aiming for”. British electronic artists Disclosure, who have worked with Smith in the past, including on his 2012 hit “Latch”, produced the track.
Two years ago, Sam Smith sent an email to his agent, the subject line of which simply read “007”.
According to the assumptions, the song matches flawlessly with Bond’s temperament and the entire exploratory setup. While rumours circulated about Muse, Ellie Goulding and Adele potentially being the musicians behind the theme, Sam Smith revealed it was in fact him only a few weeks ago. “I have been dreaming of this moment for a long long time”, he wrote.
Sam Smith is very good at singing. Lacks all the “oomph” of Adele’s Skyfall.
