Sam Smith Releases James Bond ‘Spectre’ Theme, ‘Writing’s On the Wall’ (AUDIO)
Fans can now weigh in. Starting off with a soaring string intro the song then rises to show off Smith’s impressive range.
Sometimes, James Bond films don’t have theme songs so much as gently crooned CVs, letting you know what Bond’s good at (shooting people!) and how he’s feeling (conflicted!). “I have been dreaming of this moment for a long long time”, he wrote.
Sounds like mission accomplished to us.
The song is available to stream on Apple Music or Spotify, and for purchase in the iTunes store. Listen to it below.
The wait is over for James Bond fans as the theme tune for the new Spectre film has finally landed. “Sam Smith’s may put me to sleep”. “When you’re not here I’m suffocating” – I wanted a touch of vulnerability from Bond, where you see into his heart a little bit”. With this song I don’t care about it charting and things like that. And following a positive reception, Smith tweeted, “Thank you for all your awesome messages”.
Sam Smith dropped the hotly anticipated track for Spectre, Writing’s On The Wall, this morning and, since it’s been played on the airwaves, it’s split opinion. But there’s no mistaking who sings the more plaintive song. “Because the writing’s on the wall”.
Though the singer originally denied he was slated as the newest Bond theme-r, he announced in early September via Instagram he was indeed the chosen one.
Look, the theme songs to this day remain a pretty big part of the selling of the Bond series. but let’s face it: most of these songs are soooo vanilla.
“Spectre” is directed by Sam Mendes and will be in theaters on November 6.
