Sam Smith teases Spectre theme song
We’re yet to hear his vocals, but based on the instrumental introduction alone, it should be something special. The full song will be available 25 September. That’s this Friday, for anyone who doesn’t want to look at the calendar.
In what is thought will be Daniel Craig’s only outing in an ad tied to the upcoming release of the next James Bond film Spectre, our hero is seen in a breathless adventure with baddies in hot pursuit. The film was written by the “Stay with me” singer for 20 minutes in January and was co-created by his collaborator, Jimmy Napes. He becomes the first British solo male vocalist to sing over the opening credits since Tom Jones in 1965.
Leading up to the next James Bond adventure, Spectre, theres been a lot of talk about the latest in a long line of memorable theme songs.
Spectre producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli say the song could be one of the all-time greats.
Although unplanned, the theme of the campaign, which starts with a mobile-first debut of the ad on Facebook, coincidentally dovetails with Craig’s comments earlier this month lamenting the moral deficiencies of the Bond character.
“I am 23 years old – Tom Petty’s song came out way before I was born and still to this day – people don’t know this – I actually haven’t listened to the song”, he told GQ.
“I’m excited, but it’s not going to be any time soon”.
Young – who was speaking ahead of the release of his new single, ‘Thank You – said he loves to see other gay singers achieve success in their career and was thrilled when Smith shared the news.
Meanwhile, Sam Mendes has sort of address the rumors that Christoph Waltz is indeed playing Blofeld in the new movie.
Adele is a tough act to follow, and we don’t think anyone is expecting the theme song for this autumn’s James Bond movie Spectre to match that of Skyfall.
