Sammy Watkins wants underperforming Bills players to get cut
The victory in their final regular-season appearance of the season at home improved the Redskins to 7-7 and assured they maintain at least a share of the lead in the NFC East, a game ahead of the Giants (6-8) with the Eagles (6-7), who were set to play the Cardinals on Sunday night in Philadelphia.
After Buffalo made it 28-17 with a two-play, 85-yard drive – capped by the first of Taylor’s two TD passes to Watkins – the Redskins responded with a 13-play, 80-yard drive. The only two sub-100 rating games came in Carolina and New England – road games against teams that were both undefeated at the time.
Sammy Watkins of the Buffalo Bills catches a pass past Brice McCain of the Miami Dolphins during the first half of the game on September 27, 2015 in Miami Gardens, Florida. He completed 69.7% of his passes so far this year for 3625 yards, 22 touchdowns and most importantly, only 11 interceptions, eight of them coming in the first six weeks.
“I think we have a good nucleus of talent”.
Kirk Cousins was on fire Sunday, throwing a career-high four touchdown passes and running for another to lead Washington to a 35-25 win over Buffalo at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, on Sunday.
Even if the Redskins lose in the first round of the playoffs, the year has been a tremendous success.
With the Buffalo Bills’ defensive struggles this season making the possibility of releasing defensive end Mario Williams during the offseason more likely, Williams on Sunday seemed to rule out the chance of him taking a pay cut from his $19.9 million salary cap number next season, expressing frustration with coach Rex Ryan’s defensive scheme. “We’ve got to focus on the Eagles”. We’ve got to tackle great, we’ve got to defend the deep ball. It also allowed him to note that Bills coaches have loved the play of Bills linebacker Jerry Hughes this season. This touchdown came on a 12-yard Kirk Cousins run to put the Redskins ahead 14-0 early in the second quarter. The Redskins are faced with unfamiliar territory as they look to enter the playoffs with a win over the Eagles. “Not from a schematic standpoint, but from a personnel standpoint”. “Like I said, you can change. And you know, a guy doesn’t want to make mistakes, a guy doesn’t want to turn the ball over”. “His ability to stretch the field is to be respected, and we’ll treat it accordingly”. But they went on to advance a round in the playoffs that year after defeating the Saints in the Wild Card game. I still don’t think he’s the next Tom Brady.
“He’s anticipating throws and letting the receivers go do the work for him, which is why he’s having success, and DeSean is no different”.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Kirk Cousins looked like Sonny Jurgensen, Joe Theismann, and Mark Rypien rolled into one.
Everybody knows what’s at stake Saturday night. If the Eagles win tonight against Arizona, the game will basically decide the NFC East champion. If the Eagles win, they would wrap up the division with a win over the Giants next weekend. Oh, and with his sixth 300-yard passing game of the season, he broke the team record of five which was shared by Theismann, Rypien, and Jay Schroeder. It was part of a six-catch, 153-yard afternoon for Jackson. “While it’s only year one of Rex Ryan and year three of Doug Whaley as General Manager, the Pegulas should make it clear that the whole operation is going to be on the hot seat going into the 2016 season as Buffalo really does deserve better”.
