Samsung Announces Trade-In Program For Faulty Note7revised
The phablet has successfully launched in China and few other markets recently, where Samsung made sure the Note7 units don’t pack faulty batteries.
So far, there have been 35 confirmed cases of Galaxy Note7 catching fire while charging.
Now, the company has officially asked all the Galaxy Note7 owners to participate in the replacement programme.
Though no reports of exploding Galaxy Note7’s have been reported in New Zealand, Samsung Electronics New Zealand has issued a “voluntary replacement of the phones sold in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands through various retailers and our online store”.
“Following the worldwide recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note7 Personal Electronic Device (PED), we are requesting that passengers do not charge them inflight”, the spokesman said. To ease off the pain Samsung is giving the USA owners two choices and urges them to return their faulty units as quickly as possible.
For Malaysians who wish to exchange their Note7s (and you really should), Samsung Mobile Malaysia has issued a statement on their Facebook page explaining how to go about it.
To participate, consumers should visit the retail location where they purchased the device or call (800)-SAMSUNG.
How will you be able to identify a safe new Note7 device?
In the meantime, if you bought a Galaxy Note7, you should stop using it and contact your place of purchase for a replacement phone, meaning a phone with a different model.
New Galaxy Note7 packaging has clear identifiers on the box; a small black square on the white barcode label along with a white sticker with a blue letter “S”.
Consumers can also claim for full refund as well.
