Samsung delays Galaxy Note 7 phone shipments in South Korea
Samsung has delayed shipments of Galaxy Note 7 smartphones in South Korea for extra quality control testing after reports that batteries in some of the jumbo smartphones exploded while they were being charged.
If this information is accurate Samsung should detail a plan within the next week, as they work with carriers like Verizon Wireless and others to get new unaffected units into the hands of users, and replace all now sold Galaxy Note 7 smartphones.
Reuters also noted that Samsung did not detail specific issues with the battery, but several images and videos of burnt Galaxy Note 7 devices were spread across social media and news sites.
The Note 7 has been a hugely popular device for Samsung with it selling out across world and this problem could be a major blow for the firm.

Local Korean news agency Yonhap has reported that deliveries to three of South Korea’s mobile phone networks – SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus – were halted unexpectedly.
Hyundai Securities said in a report released on Thursday that the Galaxy Note 7’s problems appeared to be related to modules or parts, and that such “malfunctions” should be resolved quickly.
It was not immediately clear when Galaxy Note 7 shipments to South Korean carriers would resume. The phone has a 5.7-inch screen and a stylus, as well as an iris scanner that lets users unlock their phones with a glance.
Samsung says that the feature will allow you to log into apps and programs without needing to ever enter a password or PIN number.
The reports are being confirmed right now, as no actual example of “Note 7” batteries exploding has been verified.
