Samsung designs all-screen front for Galaxy S8 phones
Samsung recalled and discontinued the Galaxy Note 7 a few weeks ago but the latest incident is not from the device released in August 2016 but from a Galaxy Note 4.
Those figures are down significantly, though, after the Note 7 debacle caused the company to lose billions in market cap and potential sales, along with a hit to the Samsung brand.
Samsung Canada has announced that it plans to deactivate service on all Galaxy Note 7 units still in customers’ hands. But the good news is that according to a number of solid reports, next year’s Galaxy S8 is going to be well worth the wait. Apple launched an update in September that enables iPhone owners to use apps like Uber and Venmo through Siri, making it possible to send cash or call a cab with one’s voice. And while Apple’s margins are still massive, many analysts think they’ll continue to decline.
However, the thought of the Galaxy S8 with its front-facing camera having autofocus would surely be unique as you don’t really see this on smartphones?
If Samsung does ditch the headphone jack, it would be following in the footsteps of its archrival Apple, whose iPhone 7 offers no 3.5mm port for headphones to some consternation.
The Rumors have not been confirmed yet, but this means that those planning to buy the Samsung S8 will need to buy a USB Type-C port adaptor for their headphones or buy a new USB Type-C Port headphone. The report says Galaxy S8 users will have to use wireless headphones or earbuds with the device. We’d say this is a worthy alternative to Apple’s Jet Black iPhone 7 (assuming, of course, that you don’t mind the major differences between Android and iOS). A story in the Korea Herald suggests Samsung may not release a flat-screened version of the Galaxy S8 at all, instead producing a single model with a curved screen.
Meanwhile, Samsung seems to be in an experimental mode with the upcoming device as it is cancelling many features from Galaxy S8.
