Samsung G9198 Android flip smartphone launched in China: Specifications, features
The camera sensors on the Samsung G9198 can be expected to pack the same sensors as Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung’s new SM-G9198 is actually a brand new flip-phone aimed at those who eschew the dominate smartphone form-factor that has dominated the overall global phone market for years. The latest Android-based dual-screen flip phone is now listed on Samsung’s China site.
On the other hand, there is no official confirmation available to ascertain the availability of this flip phone outside of China.
However, fans from China were apparently also in for a treat as the company’s China branch unveiled another phone.
Flip phones may have lost their luster, but they still have a strong following in many Asian countries, including China.
The Samsung G9198 is essentially a dual-screen flip smartphone with two 3.9-inch WXGA (1280×768 pixels) Super AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The SM-G9198 comes equipped with a 16 MP rear-facing camera and a 5 MP front-facing selfie camera. It will also come with 16 GB of internal memory storage, which can be expanded using a MicroSD card.
Samsung has provided Android operating system on the G9198 flip phone with its TouchWiz UX on top. It offers dual-SIM support and comes with 4G LTE, 3G, and 2G connectivity options.
The clamshell draws power from a 2,020 mAh battery (which according to Samsung should provide up to 189 hours of standby time). What makes the SM-G9198 stand out, however, is the specs.
Unfortunately, the SM-G919 – for now – only appears to be geared towards the Chinese market. However, smartphone enthusiasts visiting the IFA 2015 from September 4 to September 9 in Berlin may be able to get hold of the flip phone at the Samsung booth.
