Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Explosion Burns 6-year-old Boy
He advised consumers to use replacement phones which would be loaned by the firm until a new Note 7 equipped with fault-free batteries are provided.
“He doesn’t want to see or go near any phones”, his grandmother told The New York Post.
More time slots were made available yesterday for Samsung Galaxy Note7 users in Singapore to exchange their phones for new ones.
The story is the latest report of an exploding Galaxy Note 7 causing personal injury or damage to property.
Samsung has sold more than 1 million Note7s since the smartphone debuted in August and has manufactured an additional 1.5 million units.
“There is no way to recover this version of the phone”.
Samsung said it thought the problem came from a “minute flaw” in the production of the batteries. “If true, then the Note 7 could end up dragging down the rest of the portfolio”. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission Friday urged Note 7 owners to stop using the device. But the USA federal government has stepped up enforcement, effectively banning use and charging of the phone on airlines and urging owners to power them down and exchange them immediately. After providing Samsung with their address, mobile number, and product number, they will hear from a representative within 48 hours, the company promises.
Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone maker, could not be reached for immediate comment.
The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are going to lure disgruntled Note 7 owners. When the Galaxy Note 7 was launched last month, it was reviewed as one of the best Android smartphones ever built.
“It is certain that any countries will try to implement policies that will be more advantageous for their businesses.” said Professor Lee Byeong-tae of UNIST. “It will be a tail wind for iPhone sales”.
“I’m anxious about the product’s safety issue, and am hurt by Samsung’s different gestures toward the [Chinese] and foreign market”, a Beijing-based white-collar worker surnamed Lin told the Global Times on Monday, noting she will not buy Samsung’s latest smartphone, and would prefer to buy domestic brands, like Huawei and Vivo.
