Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Review Comes With IRIS Scanner, Dual Pixel Camera
And this Note unlike many in the past, comes with one too many “firsts” to battle whatever Apple will have to unveil in September with the iPhone 7 Pro (or Plus). The rumours point at a 5.8-inch QHD curved AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. In the unboxing, they actually use the S Pen to do a quick little doodle before mentioning the other features of the device.
The Galaxy Note 7 features a Snapdragon 820 process in the United States, with an Exynos chipset in the rest of the world and 4GB RAM.
Its Galaxy Note 1 device in 2011 signalled the start of big-screen smartphones in mainstream mobile usage, helping to coin the phrase “phablet” (half-phone, half-tablet).
The Note7 is available to pre-order from selected carriers now, and will be in stores August 19, with pricing around $1050 CAD.
Where the Galaxy Note 7 really differs from its Edge cousin though is new features, including a USB-C connection, a stylus and an iris scanner.
Samsung has also included an iris scanner in this year’s Note.
Like in the United States, the Galaxy Note 7 will be offered with freebies in Europe but instead of a Gear Fit2, the smartphone will come with either a free GearVR or a 256GB microSD card.
Priced at RM3,199, the Galaxy Note 7 will be available in Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, and Black Onyx.
Last year, we saw the Note 5 to adopt a Quad HD panel, and Note 7 will follow the similar tradition.
Samsung has yet to give the Note 7 a price, but based on previous models of the Galaxy line-up, it’ll be in the $800-$900 range without a contract.
A stylus classic, the Note series S Pen evolved to facilitate both writing and drawing with a smaller 0.7 mm tip made to enhance hand movement. The company claims that even if the S Pen is fully immersed in water, it is still able to perform well. As expected, Samsung has added an Iris scanner for the first time that would enable you to unlock the phone using eye recognition. And the phone can also be used with Samsung’s 4K Gear 360 camera, which shoots 360-degree photos and videos that can be posted to Facebook and YouTube.
