Samsung Galaxy S7 leaks: Device boasts powerful Exynos chipset in new
A few readers may have heard that Samsung is working on a new Exynos 8890 SoC with Mongoose CPU cores for increased performance.
Is Samsung stepping up the game by planning a 3-variant flagship smartphone release?
Samsung’s upcoming flagship device dubbed “Galaxy S7” has seen a fair share of leaks and rumors in the last few months. Now, a new report by Sam Mobile claims that Samsung will offer three variants of the Galaxy S7 running on three different processors. Sometime back, the same tipster apparently used Weibo to share the benchmark result comparison of the new Exynos chip and Apple’s A9, prior to the iPhone 6s announcement.
Now whether on SD 820 or Exynos 8890 or both, the Samsung Galaxy S7 release date in 2016 is said to happen earlier than expected, likely as early as February or in the days following the 2016 Las Vegas CES in late January.
As explained on Reuters, a report from South Korea’s Electronic Times suggests that the S7 equipped with the Snapdragon 820 is set to be sold in the United States and China next year, and for the global variant, or other markets as how the report puts it, will come with the Exynos 8890 CPU. In any case, the Snapdragon 820 won’t have the same issues and early benchmarks suggest that we’re in for quite a treat. It’s going to be interesting to see Exynos variants battle Snapdragon versions but we don’t expect that much of a difference. The chipset really exists and will power the Galaxy S7 variant which will launch in India.
By themselves, the scores provided were nothing short of impressive, indicating too that the Galaxy S7 is destined to best Samsung’s 2015 hero phones led by the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.
“Samsung may have plans to test the waters with a dual-camera setup on another smartphone shortly after the Galaxy S7 launch”, Digital Trends noted.
