Samsung Galaxy S7 looks the same but works better
At its Galaxy Unpacked event last night, Samsung finally made its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge official.
Now coming to the first impression of the phone, it seems that Samsung has not really done any major work in terms of design philosophy as the Galaxy S7 smartphones have most of the features which carried over from the previous generation.
The new Galaxy S7 models feature several upgrades that Samsung hopes will give them a leg up on competitors like Apple.
The new range of handsets look similar to that of Galaxy S6 series, but come packed with new features including water resistance and microSD card slots for memory expansion. Meanwhile, the Gear 360 is compatible with other Samsung smart devices including the newly unveiled Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6. Additionally, each phone is rated completely dust tight and waterproof beyond 3 ft.
Realizing that the megapixel count alone doesn’t necessarily translate to consistent quality images, Samsung is reducing resolution in the new phones to 12 megapixels from 18. The main camera on LG’s upcoming G5 smartphone will have two lenses – one for standard shots and another with a wider angle so you can capture more of what’s in front of you without having to step back.
Samsung also has an ecosystem of accessories that offer all sorts of new functionality.
According to Indian Express, the company says that the “Dual Pixel” in S7 and S7 Edge, deliver sharp, and brighter pictures even in low-light. For right now, it’s mostly used for gaming. If you are, don’t be surprised if you were to launch your phone and discover two apps missing from the handset. Samsung has pulled ahead significantly in the display department – with a larger screen (smaller than its “Edge” variant, and smaller than the iPhone 6 Plus), yet far more pixels packed therein. A bigger battery invariably makes a device heavier but that’s a tradeoff Samsung is willing to make to improve battery life.
The Galaxy S7 has a 3,000 mAh battery and supports fast-charging along with wireless charging, while its big brother Edge hones a 3600 mAh power source. Each sensor is 15MP each and combine to make a 30MP 360-degree camera.
