Samsung Gear A: New smartwatch will feature rotating bezel
SamMobile has reported some of the specs for the upcoming Gear smartwatch.
There is a lot of speculation about what features the Samsung Galaxy Gear A will have, but the following seem most certain, if not confirmed. The operating system it will run on has also been rumored for quite some time but those rumors have been put to rest as the company has also confirmed that it will be running on the Tizen 2.3.1. The wearable device, which is being referred to by insiders as “Orbis”, is assumed to be officially unveiled alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus this Aug.12.
Unlike Apple watch, Gear A will be a round shaped watch that will have a lot of things to offer users such as its rotating bezel for its new control scheme.
A couple of weeks back, Samsung launched an SDK for round-smartwatches, which, along with a leaked spec sheet, prompted rumors that the company was preparing to release a new wearable. Samsung Electronics has hinted that it would soon unveil its smartwatch at the ongoing Tizen Developer Summit in India.
Samsung has confirmed that the new Gear will come with a round 360 x 360 resolution touch screen and this will also have a rotating functional dial or bezel. It will be based on the Tizen interface by Samsung with an Exynos 3472 dual-core processor to power it up. As for RAM there is going to be 768MB on board, along with the standard 4GB of storage. This watch will also have Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.1 for connectivity objective.
