Samsung Note 7 to be ‘killed’ by software update
Samsung has confirmed that it is planning to cap Galaxy Note 7 battery life at just 30 percent in the United Kingdom.
“Samsung will modify the software to prevent the Galaxy Note 7 from charging”. Hence, if you now plan on getaway, then make sure you leave behind your potentially explosive Galaxy Note 7.

Samsung will push software to its recalled Galaxy Note 7s that will stop them from charging, encouraging users to turn in the exploding devices.
The announcement confirms earlier reports from The Verge and the BBC that included messages popping up on the phones telling owners they could not charge their phone past a certain percentage and that they would soon be unusable.
“Since the affected devices can overheat and pose a safety risk, we are asking consumers with a Galaxy Note 7 to power it down and contact the carrier or retail outlet where they purchased their device”, the statement said. Apparently, the company is working on a “dual-screen” smartphone that features two displays — one at the front and another at the back of the handset — and another device with a long-rumored, foldable OLED display. So far, the company has managed to collect 93 percent of all recalled units.
However, not everyone is on board with the forced disabling of the phone.
If you have one, don’t worry – Samsung is allowing Note 7 owners to exchange their phone for another Samsung device, or return it completely. An amount of $250 will be given to customers who trade their Note 7 in for an S7 or S7 edge in addition to the difference in resale values until December 22nd by the Samsung AU.
However, Verizon has refused to do so, as it says it is unjust to render the phones useless in the “heart of the holiday travel season”.
Waterproofing and dustproofing are a standard feature now in Samsung phones, and there’s no reason the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will not have these features.
