Samsung Pay Wont Be Available On Verizon
We are in the process of evaluating Samsung Pay and we will keep our customers updated on any news regarding the service. In the meantime anyone planning to use Samsung Pay upon its launch? “Similar to how Samsung Pay is reaching mass merchant acceptance on day one, VDEP is making it easy and cost-effective for payment providers, financial institutions and technology companies like Samsung to take full advantage of token technology and bring secure mobile payments to consumers everywhere”.
So what gives here?
We had previously expected Samsung Pay to be available on supported devices with all of the major carriers, although Samsung has now confirmed that it will not be available on Verizon Wireless.
And it isn’t. But it might be. We’re sure many Samsung users out there are pretty excited by the news and wouldn’t mind taking the service for a spin.
That means there’s still the possibility that Verizon will be a Samsung Pay partner; perhaps not at launch but at a later date.
Unfortunately if you are a Verizon subscriber, it seems that Samsung Pay will not be supported by the carrier. Verizon is missing. Since Verizon is missing and the world just realized this fact yesterday, the internet got caught up in a series of “Verizon isn’t supporting Samsung Pay!” stories.
It is unclear as to why Verizon and Samsung aren’t partnered on this.
Standards wars in addition to safe transactions have been mobile payment stumbling blocks and we’re in the home stretch of resolving both of those problems.
