Samsung’s New Gear VR Headset Will Only Cost $99

Oh my! It’s like Christmas eve, and we’re all kids trying to sneak a peek. It has to be fun, and more importantly, it has to be comfortable and easy to use.

VR has mostly been the province of gamers and tech fetishists since an early prototype of the Rift debuted at E3 in 2012. Disney invested a total of $65 million in funding to Jaunt VR, a virtual reality technology company that’s developed an end-to-end cinematic VR content-creation platform that includes a custom camera capable of shooting high-end, professional-quality, 360-degree footage, plus a software for stitching the footage together.

As a new medium, virtual reality is exploding with innovation. However, fans that wish to play Minecraft on Oculus Rift will need the game’s Windows 10 Edition, according to Lydia Winters of Mojang.

The Gear VR is said to be at the start of the holiday season, and the leading Korean electronics company, Samsung, is hoping for the device to be this year’s best-selling gift item.

Over 100 films would be available to users of Gear VR via the Oculus Store, with “Birdman”, “The Hunger Games“, “Gone Girl“, “Alien” and “Pulp Fiction” included.

Fox is not the only one in Hollywood who is showing interest in the potential of virtual realities to movies. We’re not really focused on it right now.

For Oculus VR, its partnership with Samsung has provided the company the chance to deliver its technology to a wider audience. You will have the options of enjoying gameplay in Creative or Survival modes – All 3-D of course.

The big launch for the Oculus Rift is next year and although the thought of virtual reality gaming has got pretty much everybody interested from the “kinda curious” to the “I must own it nows” the reality is that it could be a costly affair.

Just like the Rift DK2, PlayStation VR runs at 960 x 1,080 per eye, but somehow manages to push games along at an ultra-smooth 120Hz. Correct: $300. That’s just maths, and you can’t argue with maths.
