Samsung’s new smartwatch features mobile payment, Global Positioning System

At the IFA event this week, South Korean device manufacturer Samsung unveiled its Gear S3 smartwatch. That’s no bad thing, though: Android Wear might have better app support, but the Gear S3 can do most jobs straight out of the box, with easy-to-read notifications and genuinely useful apps.

Samsung are expected to unveil the Gear S3 smartwatch, as well as a range of new TVs, while Chinese manufacturer Huawei will further attempt to increase their presence in Europe with a follow-up to the Mate 8 smartphone, as well as a new version of the Huawei Watch, which the firm introduced at IFA a year ago. Samsung markets the smartwatch with the tagline “Timeless outside”.

While inside of the Gear S3 devices feature much the same hardware as the last generation, the external design is a substantial re-engineering.

NEW YORK (AP) – Samsung’s next smartwatch will come with Global Positioning System capabilities and the ability to call or text for help by triple-tapping a side button.

It will come in two designs – a rugged, outdoorsy version called the Gear S3 Frontier, and a more minimalist and elegant model known as Gear S3 Classic. Its successor, the Gear S3, doesn’t disappoint as well. With the last two components, users can control the device hands-free, such as for answering phone calls on a connected smartphone. A data plan costs extra. There has, however, been no talk on the pricing of the product as it hasn’t been announced as of yet.

The new smartwatch also boasts a bigger screen as compared to the previous iterations with a 1.3 inch display. The new Gear S3 focuses on improvements in nearly all quarters – display size, protection, more RAM, more and improved options for fitness tracking and more importantly better battery life – over its predecessor, according to Samsung. These will be pre-recorded or pre-written messages. The screen of the Gear S3 is protected with Gorilla Glass SR+ technology, and has an IP68 rating, which means it is dust and water resistant.

Samsung latest smart watches will always offer the color displays. Those companies are hoping to appeal to businesses and individuals looking to replace their laptops.

Lenovo says the Yoga Book is 9.6 millimeters (0.38 inch) thick, slightly more than the thickest iPad at 7.5 millimeters.
