Samsung’s test drive faces roadblock
Samsung even held its special Samsung Unpacked 2015 preview event on August. 13, about a month before its normally scheduled September launches, for its new S6 Edge+ and Note 5 flagship smartphones so it can try to beat Apple in the marketplace.
Previously, it was only possible to insert the stylus into a Galaxy Note handset one way.
If anything, Samsung is looking to attract new customers with its latest Galaxy devices versus pleasing its long time users.
The Note 5 is a much anticipated upgrade from its predecessors namely Galaxy Note 4 which offers an upgraded S-Pen and redesigned exterior look which follows the Galaxy S6’s design language. Sure, some specs differ here and there, but what you have in front of you is a blown up Galaxy S6 Edge with a “+” next to its name.
It was physically impossible to insert the S Pen in the incorrect orientation on previous versions of the Galaxy Note.
This past April, Samsung reclaimed the top spot from Apple for volume of phones sold, but its stock price has dropped significantly because of slow Galaxy S6 sales. Once the pen went in far enough it jammed in the device, and the process of wiggling it out stopped the Note 5 from being able to detect it. It is hard to imagine thatS6 Edge+ owners would not want the ability to use Scroll Capture, or that Note 5 users would not enjoy using the big screen to watch videos and have quick shortcuts. There’s also no warning that if you’re doing it wrong, you could break your phone. The S6 Edge+ also has 518 ppi versus 401 ppi for the iPhone 6 Plus. Vodafone said the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus 64GB will retail at QR3,399. The SM-N920F being imported into India could also mean that the Galaxy Note 5 will soon be launched in the Indian market as well.
Another speed test posted by PhoneBuff pitted the Galaxy Note 5 against the OnePlus Two (4GB of RAM) and the G4. In addition to the People Edge function, which allows users to pin their favourite contacts on the curved display, the S6 Edge+ now comes with Apps Edge, which does the same thing but with apps.
