Samsung shares rally on strong April-June results
Those figures reflected the strong sales from its flagship smartphones the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge.
Unlike its two predecessors, the flagship Galaxy S7 combined a sleek curved-edged look that sets it apart from the iPhone, with practical features that consumers have long clamoured for, including water resistance and expandable memory. Lastly, how can we miss the most important feature of the J2 2016, the smart glow notification around the rear camera which is the first of its kind from Samsung and we can expect this to be used in their upcoming smartphones as well in the future.
Between April and June, Samsung managed a 8.1 trillion won (6.3 billion euro) operational profit, if the company’s preliminary results turn out to be correct.
One of the world’s top smartphone makers, Samsung, has just released its earnings guidance for the second quarter of 2016. The tricky part will be maintaining demand for the Galaxy S7 line into the second half of the year.
“I am not sure if the end-user product sales growth can be sustainable throughout the latter half of the year but the component businesses will give a leg up”, said IBK’s Lee.
Lackluster sales of offerings from rivals such as Apple Inc and LG Electronics Inc helped to reduce Samsung’s marketing expenses, they said.
Even the device used in the Geekbench test is a mystery, as it appears to contain several pieces of hardware from previous Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones to build a hybrid Note 7. “With the advent of 4G, exponential increase in app usage and ensuing need for multi-tasking, consumers are on the lookout for high performance device”, said Manu Sharma, Vice President of Mobile Business at Samsung India, in a statement. But, its mobile division may be in for a dip.
For the second quarter this year, the South Korean company is expected to post 8.1 trillion won or $7 billion in operating profits.
Operating income at the semiconductor business probably fell about 25% to 2,55 trillion won in the June quarter on sales of 11,2 trillion won, according to the analyst survey.
The Thomson Reuters poll tipped the mobile division’s profit to have risen 54.5 percent from a year earlier to 4.3 trillion won, the highest since the second quarter of 2014.
