Samsung Unveils Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+
Both the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5 handsets are equipped with an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor; and boast 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, fingerprint scanners, 16-megapixel OIS f1.
Smaller screen Though the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 comes with the same screen size as the Note 4, which is 5.7-inch, but the former is actually smaller in every dimension thanks to the new sealed design.
The S6 Edge+ is a larger version of the S6 Edge launched earlier this year, while the Note 5 offers the same specifications plus the S Pen stylus for writing on the screen. The Galaxy S6 Edge+, meanwhile, will be US $814.99 (approximately Rs 53,300) for the 32GB, and US $914.99 (approximately Rs 59,800) for the 64GB variant.
Boasting enhancements in materials and performance, the new Galaxy smartphones from Samsung are not only better than ever, but also bigger, according to the company. It just won’t be the Galaxy Note 5, BBC reports.
Also, the S-Pen is made from sturdier materials unlike before. That sounds like the flawless opportunity to reveal a new version of Gear VR to match, but Thursday’s event came and went without a single mention of the virtual reality headset.
Despite Samsung still selling more phones overall than Apple, it has slumped in recent years, falling to 21pc of world phone sales. Developed markets, which would ostensibly support leading-edge devices like the Edge+, are already experiencing smartphone saturation. In addition, both devices will come with similar megapixel lens of 16 MP for the rear and 5 MP for the front-facing camera, which is also capable of recording 4K quality videos (3,840 x 2,160). Although there’s no pricing information available on the site, the larger storage options appear to be available in a variety of colors for different U.S. carriers. Both the phones have an impressive super AMOLED screen with 518 pixels per inch.
