Samsung Unveils Galaxy S9 and S9+ at MWC 2018 in Barcelona
Samsung, besides launching its flagship smartphones, Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+, has launched a third device that comes as the successor to the last year’s DeX docking system.
As for the new leaks found by WinFuture, they revealed the Galaxy S9 featured in four different colors: Coral Blue, Lilac Purple, Midnight Black and Titanium Gray. The Galaxy S9 comes with 4GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64GB, 128GB or 256GB storage options.
Now the bigger question is whether these discounts on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge 32GB and 128GB variants make the device worthwhile? AR Animoji will let users customise the skin tone, clothes, etc of their character as well. These will also support Dolby Atmos, giving the effect of 360-degree sound.
What’s new with the Samsung Galaxy S9?
Other new features on the camera include Multi Frame Noise Reduction, which compresses multiple images into one photo to reduce noise. Samsung’s website says that, with a qualifying trade-in, customers can save up to $350 on the new Galaxy phones.
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be available in Ireland starting March 16. Moreover, the device will showcase dual rear cameras in a vertical setup with an LED flash located at the right side of the lenses.
Update: Samsung is now detailing the camera features in the new Galaxy S9.
The other headline feature is Samsung’s new slow-motion camera, which is capable of capturing 960 frames per second. The phone automatically add background music to super slow mo videos. Bixby Live Translation will also be a thing with the ninth edition of the Galaxy S-series, so are the AR capabilities. And there’s no better way to prepare than by taking an early look at how Samsung’s new Galaxy S9 stacks up against the current smartphone king, Apple’s iPhone X.
As expected, the new Galaxy phones have stereo speakers for the first time ever. Samsung has also introduced some new features to the Bixby camera.
And Samsung has bundled its own SmartThings app for controlling all of your smart home devices. This addresses one of the biggest gripes users had with the S8, since it was stupidly easy to smudge up the camera’s glass cover when feeling around for the tiny fingerprint pad. But often, photos are taken in less-than-ideal lighting conditions and most smartphone cameras have a fixed aperture that can’t adjust to low or bright lighting environments resulting in grainy or washed out pictures. Samsung will support Full HD and 2K monitors as well.
