The wife and mother of an infant son was killed in the attack, her aunt, Rebecca Godoy, said in Facebook post that linked to Godoy’s own page.

“He had worked with [Farook]”, Jennifer Thalasinos said. He also was a physical education teacher and after-school care administrator at a local Catholic school in Riverside, California, where he dressed up as Santa for the past few holiday seasons. Thalasinos wore tzitzit, traditional fringe tassels, as well as a tie clip with the Star of David.

Meins never strayed far from his church or its teachings, said Walter Hackett, who met Meins some 40-years ago in high school.

Based on the deluge of messages on his Facebook page, Thalasino had a strong Internet presence and wide network of friends and supporters, many of whose posts included references to Thalasinos’ faith.

Nicholas Thalasinos, 52, was a devoted sanitary inspector in San Bernardino County, and he was also a devout Messianic Jew.

Some online speculated Thursday that those viewpoints may have made Thalasinos a target.

“Keeping you in my prayer my friend”, wrote one user. “It is my honest belief that Nicholas was murdered because of his alliance with Israel and Jewish people”.

Jennifer said she had not had a chance to speak with other people who were present during the shooting on Wednesday.

“She always had something encouraging to say”, Lee said.

“Please pray. My husband was in a meeting and a shooter came in”. There are multiple people dead/shot. “I’m not just exaggerating because he was my boyfriend, but the world will suffer from having one less person like him in it”, Reyes said.

“You don’t expect to go to bed and wake up to find that your father is gone especially under such tragic circumstances”, she explained.

Several fundraising campaigns have already been established to raise money for the shooting victims’ families.

At least 10 people were still hospitalized, split evenly between Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and Loma Linda University Medical Center.

One of the victims in the San Bernardino massacre is a former New Jersey man who verbally sparred about Israel two weeks ago with a man whom police have identified as one of the shooters, a friend of the victim said Thursday in a telephone interview.

Royster said he was about to fall asleep Wednesday night when he received a text from Velasco’s cousin, asking if he’d heard from her.

“Yesterday when this happened to the center, I didn’t even pay attention until late in the afternoon”, said his brother Amanios, 70. Isaac GebreslassieIsaac Gebreslassie, 60, was a supervising environmental health specialist.

“It was a picture of her with a half-smile”, he said.

Diana Jakopovic posted that she was Thalasinos’ longtime online friend and that they had bonded over political issues.
