Kabir was arrested, convicted and sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for the offenses. The fifth wasn’t arrested and hasn’t been identified.

According to officials, Marquez told investigators that he and Farook were on the path to radicalization as early as 2011.

Authorities also searched a lake near San Bernardino Thursday, where they may have been searching for a missing computer hard drive that belonged to the couple.

The man who purchased two assault rifles used in the San Bernardino massacre was more than just a friend to the gunman – he was also a relative.

Marquez and his wife listed their address on their marriage license at the same Corona home where Raheel and Tatiana Farook live.

The FBI has found online communications between the two killers from late 2013, before they began dating, indicating the two discussing jihad, Comey said.

The militant groups likely ignored Malik’s approaches because they have become extremely wary of responding to outsiders they do not know or who have not been introduced to them, the sources said.

Marquez rarely spoke about his family or his marriage, Ramirez said. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) asked Comey, referring to Malik.

At a minimum, Marquez could be charged with an illegal weapons transfer, as gun sales in California are supposed to go through a licensed dealer, NPR reports.

He noted that while there were some indications that might have alerted law enforcement to Farook, he declined to detail what those might have been. The official was familiar with the visas but not authorized to speak publicly.

It is believed the couple had bought the arsenal they used before the loan was taken out.

The hourlong event was to “pay tribute to the San Bernardino victims and their community”, according to a news release from the university.

The Russian sisters and other Farook family members have not been tied to the terror shootings.

There is little surprise in the authorities’ determination that the massacre in California was an act of fanatical terrorism.
