San Francisco 49ers coach Chip Kelly says he’s going nowhere

From 1977 to 2008, the Ducks had just two head football coaches – Rich Brooks and Bellotti.

Mullens said the school will search “far and wide” for their new coach.

His 37-16 record is more than respectable, OR simply conceives of itself as an elite program that expects Pac-12 titles and playoff appearances. In addition to seeing their streak against the Beavers end, they failed to make a bowl game for the first time since 2004 and their streak of 110 consecutive home sellouts – started in 1999 – came to an end.

One losing season was enough.

Then again, OR may not have much time before it needs to make a call for a new head coach.

When asked if he plans to stay with the struggling 49ers (1-10), Kelly was quick with his answer. The Ducks, who switched to a 4-3 scheme under Hoke, spent most of the season mired in the bottom of the NCAA defensive rankings.

Kelly said he and Helfrich talked Wednesday morning after the news broke. Won six conference titles in three leagues during his tenure. The former OR assistant had a successful debut in his first year at UCF, guiding the Knights to a 6-6 record – a six-game improvement after the program went 0-12 in 2015. It’s one of the unfortunate things that goes on in this profession.

OR suffered its worst season since 1991 after going 4-8 with just two Pac-12 conference wins.
