Sanders calls Clinton’s Wall Street remarks ‘silly’ and ‘absurd’
This was displayed by presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley during their presidential debate on CBS on Saturday night.
As a rule I thought Clinton did well and that she handled the attacks skillfully – with one significant exception.
As for O’Malley, he echoed the sentiments made by Clinton and Sanders and took care not to offend the Muslim community. “Yet Bernie Sanders has called for a roughly 9 percent tax hike on middle-class families just to cover his health care plan, and simple math dictates he’ll need to tax workers even more to pay for the rest of his at least $18 trillion to $20 trillion agenda”. Though their tax rates would rise, the Sanders’ staffers said, middle-class Americans would likely come out ahead because of the benefits he’s proposing.
Addressing hundreds at Mountain View College, Clinton did not utter Sanders’ name but left little doubt about whom she was referring to when she brought up an opponent who she said wants to dismantle President Barack Obama’s signature health-care reform law and give more power to the states.
The section on defeating ISIS was added to speech because the Sanders campaign understands that many people may not be familiar with his foreign policy positions.
“It is a threat to us all”, she said, citing the March 11, 2004 train bombing in Madrid which was carried out by a local cell of al Qaeda.
“It is painful time for the whole world in the aftermath to what happened in Paris”, Bill Clinton said on the terrorist attack. “While this endorsement is a feather in the cap of Clinton, it is a crushing defeat for Sanders, who desperately needed establishment support to legitimize his candidacy”.
The Service Employees worldwide Union has endorsed Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton for president, championing her as a candidate for the working class. Her invoking of 9/11 received an incredulous response on social media and Republicans accused her of shamefully hiding behind the attacks to deflect attention from her ties to her wealthiest donors.
At the Democratic debate, Clinton cited the attacks while defending donations she’s received from Wall Street banks.
He argued Mrs. Clinton hadn’t offered any concrete plans despite making paid family medical leave a cornerstone of her campaign. “That is the sort of company, that is the sort economic advice that she would follow”. “He’s raising taxes to pay for relief for middle-income and working people”, he said.
Sanders noted his support of legislation backed by Sen.
But if we are to believe Hillary Clinton, the denizens of the NY financial district – and their USA senator at the time – earned immunity against our judgment 14 years ago. The union is one of the top political spenders in the country, with a history of investing tens of millions of dollars on Democrats in presidential election cycles.
In a statement, Clinton thanked the SEIU and pledged to support their membership. That is an impressive tally with more than two months still to go before the first votes are cast in the state-by-state dash for the presidential nomination.
