Sanders Says Clinton Is Coming ‘Unraveled’ By His Progress
Sanders has only fitfully gone back at Clinton when she’s gone after him, but he suggested Saturday that his patience is wearing thin.
Both Nevada and SC, which follows the Western state on the Democratic primary calendar, are more racially diverse than leadoff Iowa and New Hampshire.
A recent poll conducted by “Real Clear Politics” has Clinton and Bernie Sanders tied at 45% in Nevada.
“Together what we are going to say to Wall Street and to corporate America and to corporate media and to the big campaign donors is that this country doesn’t belong to them”, Sanders said. Would that end discrimination against the LGBT community?
Sanders does, in fact, have positions on a host of issues, including climate change, criminal justice and trade, but Clinton’s campaign argues that his routine pivot at debates and in town halls is to economic issues and Wall Street, not the substance of the issue.
The rally served as a kick-off for a door-to-door canvassing effort one week before Nevada Democrats are headed to caucuses.
“I am not here to talk about my involvement in the American civil rights movements”, Lewis said, noting that he is here to introduce “my beloved sister who I have known for so many years”. He raised again her Senate vote in favor of invading Iraq and said that on the most important foreign policy issue in modern times, “I voted the right way, she voted the wrong way”.
“I think if you check my record, you will find that I have stood up and will continue to stand up to mining extraction companies that are trying to invade indigenous territory”, responded Sanders. “That is why I need you, my friends, more than ever”.
“We have to be focused on doing everything we can to build on the progress that President Obama has made”, she said.
Clinton will be campaigning in Nevada in the next few days ahead of the caucuses next weekend. “But for Senator Sanders, it’s part of his answer for everything”.
