Sanders supporters: Unmoved by plea to support Clinton
A Hawaii congresswoman has nominated Bernie Sanders for president at the Democratic convention. Indeed, Sanders’ ongoing gripe seems a sleight of hand by fixating on superdelegates when it was the millions of everyday Democrats who handed Clinton her victory. After a chaotic opening day Monday, the Clinton camp was looking to unite the party’s factions, with negotiations underway about Sanders possibly announcing the votes from his state of Vermont during the roll call, and then moving to seek her nomination by unanimous acclamation. Donna Soucy, a Clinton delegate, is holding a handmade sign tonight that refers to Clinton as first lady, senator, secretary of state and president.
But their efforts may have been in vain, as the deadline has expired to officially offer an alternative VP pick to the Democratic National Convention, activists said. “Our job now is to see that platform implemented by a Democratic Senate, a Democratic House and a Hillary Clinton presidency-and I am going to do everything I can to make that happen”.
McAuliffe says Holton’s resignation was effective Monday.
Bernie Sanders has cut a deal with the Hillary Clinton campaign to show a united front when the convention formally selects the former Secretary of State to be the Democratic presidential nominee, according to Democratic officials and the Sanders campaign.

Should things go as expected, 14 Louisiana delegates will vote for Sanders. One possibility is turning their backs during Kaine’s acceptance speech.
