Sanders to Trump: Rescind Bannon appointment, keep promises
“This is not about a difference in policy or politics – Steve Bannon has promoted anti-Semitic, racist, misogynistic and unsafe views that have emboldened white nationalist forces and caused some Americans to question whether they can still feel safe in the country we all love”, Brown said.
Mr Trump’s newly-appointed chief of staff Reince Priebus and other Republicans rushed to the defence of Mr Bannon, a former media company boss who has been condemned for running a website embraced by white supremacist groups. There are nine of those with a cumulative two hours of one-on-one babble, and they further illustrate Bannon’s horrorshow belief system. He is unfit to advise America’s commander-in-chief.
“This is a person who helped (Trump) win an incredible victory”, Ryan said of Bannon Tuesday.
Bannon is a former Naval officer and investment banker, but he’s best-known as the leader of Breitbart News. However, Trump has made clear that Mr Priebus will work as “equal partners” with political outsider Mr Bannon once inside the White House. A recent Anti-Defamation League report found that a dramatic spike in anti-Semitic harassment of journalists during the election was carried out by self-identified alt-right Trump backers. “And do it immediately”.
“Anti-Semitism, Islamaphobia, racism, misogyny, xenophobia and homophobia have no place in the centers of public policy, not in the White House and especially not among our President’s advisers”, the Federation said in a statement. When Bannon made the above comment about Silicon Valley, he positioned his anti-immigrant stance as almost absolute, which even Trump appeared to question.
Not all Democrats have been willing to criticize Trump for his pick of Bannon.
“You know, if people really want to in the press would like to call Donald Trump a racist, you might want to stop on that one and spend a little time on [Steve] Bannon”, Beck added. “He’s a Harvard graduate, top of his class, a successful businessman”.
Jason Miller, a spokesman for Trump’s campaign, defended Bannon to reporters at Trump Tower on Wednesday. His ex-wife accused him of domestic violence, claiming that he choked her, and testified in court that Bannon was anti-semitic and didn’t want their daughters going to school with Jews.
