Sanders Will Nominate Clinton Ahead Of DNC Roll Call
After shooing Al Franken out of her frame at the Democratic National Convention, Sarah Silverman explained her support of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race. Back then, the roll call was stopped when it came to NY, and Clinton, after her long and divisive primary against Obama, called for a vote for Obama by acclamation.
“By these measures, any objective observer will conclude that – based on her ideas and her leadership – Hillary Clinton must become the next president of the United States”.
State Democratic Party Chairman Roy Temple says he spotted Sanders on Tuesday morning in the Philadelphia hotel that Missouri delegates share with those from IL and Kansas.
According to media reports, both the Clinton and Sanders camps are working behind the scenes to present a more unified party on stage. Jeff Sessions, one of Donald Trump’s most prominent allies, put Trump’s name into nomination.
But don’t be surprised if Bernie Sanders also plays a role tonight during the roll call – something potentially similar to what Clinton did in 2008 for Barack Obama. It was a move that allowed the party to nominate Obama unanimously.
Silverman opened her speech on Monday (July 25, 2016) with a message to staunch supporters of Bernie Sanders, the candidate for whom she has long advocated, that received a strong audience reaction.
If Sanders decides to put Clinton’s name in for the nomination, “that sends a message to his supporters that we’re unifying and I think that will affect numerous pledged delegates that are there for Bernie at the convention”, Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva said Tuesday on CNN.
