Sania Mirza returns home

Call it coincidence but both of her US Open titles were preceded by unwanted controversies. I always dedicate it back to the people.

Sania’s win topped off a critical US Open for the Indians as Leander Paes have won the blended doubles cup with Hingis on Saturday, in a rehash show of the Wimbledon title. Imran said her daughter was on top of her career. “I don’t read newspapers very often”.

Talking about their dominating run in the US Open, where they did not drop a single set en route to win, Sania said,”We have been playing well”.

Hingis, who hit a backhand volley victor to break for the win after 70 minutes, won 14 matches in a row when she began playing alongside Sania in March, taking titles at Indian Wells, Miami and Charleston before the streak ended in the Rome final. Sania, who has played with a number of partners, trying and testing, looking for the right combination, rued that the duo hadn’t come together earlier. Wimbledon champions Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza captured their second consecutive Grand Slam women’s doubles crown Sunday, defeating Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova 6-3, 6-3 in the US Open final.

Next year at 29, she will have a good chance to win a medal in Rio.

The US Open was Sania’s fifth Grand Slam title and second with Hingis.

“In mixed doubles, it is up to Sania to take that decision”. Lot of considerations have to be taken into account. We had to finish a lot of the engagement-related work and just about managed time for the live telecast of the final.
