Santa Claus is coming to Somerville
Excited children await the arrival of Santa Claus at Promenade Temecula during last year’s Holiday Tree lighting ceremony. Santa always brought us each one toy and one item of clothing and we were always pleased that he remembered us and made a special effort to deliver those items on Christmas Eve when he was so busy trying to reach every child in the whole world.
All entries must be motorized and able to travel a minimum of 10 miles per hour. Each unit must be at least 50 percent illuminated.
“This year’s parade is shaping up to be one of the best ever; including several marching bands, clowns, veterans groups and of course, Santa Claus”, Webber said in the release.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there for each of the times, while The Gingerbread Man only will be in attendance on Friday evenings. When we asked Lilly and her little brother, Alex, why seeing Santa is so fun- they had some good reasons. She wants panther clothes and Star Lilly.
Immediately following the parade the community Christmas tree was lit on the lawn of Auburn’s Memorial City Hall.
After the tree lighting, Schneider will introduce local resident Nina Powers, who will collect donations for local Hospice programs through her “Angels of Light” program. Milton hinted that they might be found playing video games, getting a haircut or trying on some winter gear, and said more hints will be shared live through the DPA’s Facebook page during the their visit.
Though a visit to Santa’s can be booked online, walk-ups are still welcome.
JUAN CARLO/THE STAR Costumed members of Poder Popular de Santa Paula dance during Saturday’s Christmas parade. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
The Osgoode Santa Clause Parade, which begins at 2 p.m.at the intersection of Johannes and Victoria Streets, will feature between 15 and 20 floats, and a number of volunteers from Osgoode Township High School will be on hand to help it all run smoothly.
