Santa’s Calling Gives Children A Special Memory

When a variety of floats, decked out in Christmas lights and decor, parade their way down Ontario Street on Saturday night it will mark the second straight year that Moffit won’t be in the event. Santa will visit with children and pose for photos.

Your child can hear from Santa after they write him a Christmas letter through the U.S. Postal Service Letters from Santa program.

Special guest Santa Claus was joined by his reindeers to help spread the magic of Christmas and start the festivities in Sheep Street.

Santa Claus is out and about in the Tri-State, church choirs are busy practicing for their Christmas performances, and cooks everywhere are planning for big holiday meals and the candies of the season.

The Christmas on Morse Street bazaar at the former Expectations Event Center continues Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., along with Christmas open houses at Mazie’s Flowers and Nadean’s Cakes/Cookies/Catering. You can also mail donations to “Operation Santa Claus”, 6241 Westport Ave., Shreveport, LA 71129. Breakfasts will be 8-11 a.m. December 10, 11, 17 and 18.

There, he spends eight hours a day, seven days a week taking Christmas requests from children and posing for photographs. He will ride through the downtown, before going to Memorial Hall, at 19 E. Chicago Ave.at 5 p.m.

Santa has officially arrived at Bass Pro Shop in Destin Commons., 4301 Legendary Drive, Destin. Available to children 10 and under. The premise of the story is that Santa Claus wakes up with a cold shortly after Thanksgiving and, per his doctor’s orders, decides to take a break from Christmas for the year, as a lot of people no longer believe in Santa anyway.

While at the event, people were encouraged to take part in the city’s Instagram challenge by posting photos that best encapsulated a small-town Christmas in OR by using the #oregoncandlelightwalk2016 hashtag.

Brenda Lloyd-Jones, the Mothers Group Inc. founder, started the annual pre-Christmas event as a way to bring Santa and Mrs. Claus to north Tulsa after she overheard a child ask her mother to take her to another part of town to meet Santa.
