Santorum: Fetal research ‘morally suspect’
I wanted to use our time tonight to directly deal with an attack launched on me today by the left and the media.
In a July 14 statement, Planned Parenthood said tissue donation is always done with “full, appropriate consent from patients and under the highest ethical and legal standards”.
On Wednesday, doctor and author Jen Gunter revealed on her blog that Carson co-authored a 1992 study of colloid cysts that examined tissues “obtained from two fetuses aborted at the ninth and 17th week of gestation”, according to the paper. However, in the United States, selling fetal tissue for profit is illegal.
“The issue of fetal tissue has everything to do with how the tissue is acquired”.
Gov. Bobby Jindal announced last week that Louisiana was ending its provider agreements that reimbursed Planned Parenthood for providing health care services to low-income women through the government-funded Medicaid insurance program. To willfully ignore evidence that you have for some ideological reason is wrong.
He continued by saying: ‘There is absolutely no contradiction between the research I worked on in 1992 and my pro-life views. Now, the average age of death is 80.
(Don’t worry. It only takes a sec-and you don’t have to give us payment information right now.).
“Bear this in mind about pathologists”.
So antiabortion groups are enlisting volunteers to head to the innumerable congressional town-hall meetings being held over the next few weeks and making sure members continue to hear that their constituents want them to act. “To not use the tissue that is in a tissue bank, regardless of where it comes from, would be foolish”. Keep in mind CMP has posted the entire unedited footage on YouTube, which kind of proves they have nothing to hide about their ten minute videos and are 100% comfortable in their accusations. Other people doing comparative research need to have a basis. “They have no job opining on where the tissue came from”, Carson added. “I encourage people to go and read about [Planned Parenthood founder] Margaret Sanger and go and read about the beginnings of [that] organization so that you know what you’re dealing with”. He told the newspaper that his intent made his research acceptable, and that his opposition is to killing babies and taking the tissue, that’s a very different thing than taking a dead specimen and keeping a record of it. “But it would be good for the public to understand this whole aspect of medical research”.
Now, it’s especially interesting that he specifically referred to 17-week-old fetuses, because, as it turns out, Ben Carson has conducted research on 17-week-old fetal brain tissue himself.
