Sarah Palin’s oldest son arrested in domestic violence case
“This is going to be so much fun”.
“Todd and I and a couple of our friends from Alaska lending our support the next president of the United States Donald Trump“, Palin said, referring to her husband. “Our troops deserve better, you deserve better”. Trump has led national opinion polls among Republicans for months but is in a tight contest with Cruz, a US senator from Texas, for the support of Iowa Republicans, who lean conservative and whose evangelical Christians comprise a major voting bloc.
Trump is deadlocked with Ted Cruz in Iowa. The two have been ramping up their attacks against one another as the election has neared.
The endorsement of the reality-TV-star-turned-politician by a politician-turned-reality-TV-star, Sarah Palin, was just one of several developments celebrated by the Trump camp Tuesday.
DON GONYEA, BYLINE: And just so you know, you can still hear her speaking in the background here as I talk to you. On Tuesday, January 19, his mother Sarah announced she’s endorsing Donald Trump for presidency. Earlier today, we reached NPR’s Don Gonyea is in Ames, Iowa, right in the middle of Palin’s endorsement. She said Trump would “kick ISIS’ ass”.
But his spokesman Rick Tyler told CNN’s New Day programme that he would be “deeply disappointed” if she backed Mr Trump.
“Oh my goodness gracious”.
“What the heck would the establishment know about conservatism?”
Aside from similar conservative populist rhetoric which has inspired fierce loyalty among their working-class supporters, Trump and Palin also have something else in common: Michael Glassner. “Give me a break”. Mr Trump said: “I am a big fan of Sarah Palin but I’m not saying who it is”. Even though Palin’s influence has steadily faded since she was plucked out of obscurity to be John McCain ‘s running mate in 2008, Iowa may be a state where her influence still remains at least marginally significant.
Since resigning her governorship in 2009, Palin has worked as a conservative political commentator and as the producer and star of lightly staged television shows about her large family enjoying Alaska’s rugged landscapes.
While Cruz could benefit from an endorsement, some say it won’t make a big difference to voters. He’s now beaten out his neck-and-neck Iowa rival, Cruz, for Palin’s affection. The affidavit adds that the woman told police Palin was yelling “Do you think I won’t do it?”
Palin returned to her familiar fossil-fuel-promoting gobbledygook at the Trump event on Tuesday, trotting out the “drill, baby, drill” mantra again. That strikes me as important, especially if the race in Iowa turns out to be as close as polls indicate at the moment.
On Tuesday, we witnessed the biggest endorsement for president thus far of the race for the White House in 2016.
Officers in Wasilla, Alaska, charged Track Palin with fourth-degree assault, interfering with a report of a domestic violence crime and possession of a weapon while intoxicated, records from Alaska’s Third Judicial District Court showed.
