SCANDAL on ABC – Thursday, October 1, 2015
Scandal season five premieres this week, and the overwhelming storyline will feature a presidential divorce between President Fitzgerald Grant and his wife Mellie. Meanwhile, back at the White House, Fitz is determined to find who’s responsible for causing the latest turn of events, and Abby receives unexpected guidance from a master of damage control as she struggles to catch a break, on “Scandal“, THURSDAY OCTOBER 1 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. But will the fairytale continue in Season 5?
In fact, the premiere episode will introduce a new “scandal” in the lives of the two characters. Den of Geek reports that the Gladiators took a back seat during most of the last two seasons as they were busy with healing Olivia, especially with Olivia being kidnapped during season 4 and when Olivia was forced into exile the previous season by her father to escape the aftermath of Olivia being revealed as the president’s mistress.
Will Fitz and Olivia shack up in the White House? Olivia answered, “Whatever we want”.
“Make of this what you will: During ABC’s “TGIT” press tour panel, I asked Rhimes if she had “any interest in” – not whether she was planning on – writing a storyline about “Olivia Pope as First Lady”, and she flatly responded, “We don’t comment on future storylines”. She’s still got the Senator position, however things are complicated with her husband. The trailer for Scandal Season 5 reveals that he plans to divorce Mellie (Bellamy Young). For those coming late to the party, B613 was the shadowy, evil organization run by Olivia’s father, Rowan. “Last year was so frustrating and hard to navigate as an actor because we were just apart the entire season”, he said. The good news for Team Olake, Foley is not leaving the show. It turns out Russell, who has been having sex with Olivia, is a B613 agent that was sent to spy on Olivia and her associates. It may be possible that Jake was still hoping that Liv would end up choosing him.
How we left things: You’ll remember community activist Marcus Walker (Cornelius Smith Jr.) from guest-starring stints on two season 4 episodes. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes says that Jake is not happy with Olivia ultimately choosing Fitz. Huck begged her to go ahead and shoot him. As long as there is more than Huck and Quinn this season pulling rank, then this season will hit the ground running.
