‘Scandal’ Season 5 Spoilers & Trailer: Kate Burton’s Sally Langston Slams Tony
Abby started talking about Princess Emily, and the royal was actually in a bathroom stall and heard the whole thing.
Princess Emily of Caledonia visited the USA capitol with her family and was hired by Olivia to handle the press after a bad accident. He used a device to hack into the system of the vehicle and case the fatal crash. Abby was furious with Liz for not telling her about Fitz going to Mellie’s swearing in because it made her look like a fool.
This seems to be inevitable for the first couple.
Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry): Hides one too many scandals to keep his job at the White House by season’s end. After the ceremony, Mellie pleads with Fitz and tells him how much she believes they are a good team. However, her and Fitz now divorcing, she is on the outside politically as well as personally. Now, we see Fitz come into Mellie’s office and as she thanks him for joining her as she was sworn into the Senate, Fitz hands her divorce papers. Olivia’s mother, Maya Pope, has spent a significant portion of her adult life locked up in a prison cell for committing heinous acts of terrorism, but in exchange for signing an affidavit denying the existence of B613, Maya Pope is finally free. Princess Emily was a human rights lawyer who got swept her feet by the most eligible man in the world (just like George Clooney’s wife!).
Season 5 (Thursday, 9/8c, ABC) picks up shortly after that booty call and will find Mellie at what Young describes as a “time of paralysis”. I hated season 1 Abby but now I love her and she deserves some RESPECT! The episode ended with Fitz and Olivia kissing in the White House balcony.
On tonight’s episode as per the ABC synopsis, “in the fifth-season opener, Olivia and Fitz are blissful about their reunion, but Cyrus, Mellie and Huck must face the repercussions of assisting Command”. Liv manages to convince Ian to try to sell her in the hopes that someone will notice and try to save her. Huck and Jake do, and try to buy her back using the B613 money they stole. Yep, she’s Princess Diana now. Sally Langston lets her TV audience know that the bash may just be a way to get chummy with a visiting queen in order to build a naval base on her home turf.
OPA is down to just one employee, the hard-working Quinn, as Huck has become a nondescript lump on Olivia’s couch since the bus incident. Dead on the street is the Princess Emily of Caledonia – a girl from Iowa who married the Prince. It’s the Ross and Rachel moment audiences have been waiting for, but even Kerry Washington admits she was anxious some of the sexy sizzle might fade bringing their romance out of the political shadows. Liv said they needed work boundaries, but he suspected she was really just upset about his desire to go public with their relationship. “The minute the world finds out about us, we stop being you and me and become a spectacle”, she tells him, comparing their relationship to the public scrutiny that the prince and princess had. Their fight hips Abby and Liz North to the fact that Olitzia-as-a-couple is definitely happening again.
And we are wondering, did Sally forget she killed her husband, Daniel Douglas?
As she cried, he promised to wait until they were both ready. This does not come as a surprise of course since the finale of the previous season saw them reuniting.
