School board fined after student injured
The Upper Grand District School Board is alerting parents that there will be a new PA day added to the school calendar this year.
The Upper Grand Board has scheduled the PA day for April 25, 2016.
The date of this PA Day was a joint decision among Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, together with Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and Limestone District School Board, due to shared student transportation through Tri-Board Student Transportation Services.
Three students at a Mississauga, Ont., school were attending a manufacturing program class and were assigned the task of removing four old caster wheels from a metal table.
“This all happened quite quickly”, Jessica Silver, supervising principal of Safe and Caring Schools, said during an address to trustees. We will give (families) as much notices as we can.
The Peoria School District 150 board approved spending $3,900 on a personal injury lawsuit against the district and a teacher.
School district officials tonight approved a $135.5 million contract for Clark County’s 18,000 teachers, ending a bitter months-long fight with the teachers union that left many educators feeling unwanted and in search of work elsewhere.
This increases the number of PA days in the school calendar to seven. Additional savings will come from employee attrition, and most revenue gains from the state’s per-pupil funding and local property tax collections will go directly toward paying for the new contract, according to the district.
