School Board looking at $11.7 million budget
Board Secretary Greg Wheaton abstained on both, citing conflict of interest since he is a school district employee who reports to the superintendent.

At Lyn Knoll, one of the popular innovations involved letting students have physical education every day of the week, something not common in many schools.

The Thompson School District hired consultants McPherson and Jacobson to help with a nationwide search to replace Scheer, who is retiring June 30.
The board recognized outstanding achievements of the winter sports teams and student-athletes, and then accepted donations totaling almost $14,000 from the Galion Booster Club, Christ United Methodist Church Mission Fund, the Arthur J. Freese Charitable Trust and the Walter R. Hessenauer Trust for various areas of district operations.
“I think we can agree that this trend of cost is borderline not sustainable”, said Mazzocchi. “We have teachers that leave us to go to other districts to make more money, and we have a tough time bringing in teachers and retaining good teachers”.

Carrie suggested putting out a survey to find out what students see as incentives.
“Getting it in February and trying to pass it in six weeks, to me, is a little overwhelming”, Connors said.
“We’re going to double that class in size”, Campbell said.
Church, residents discussed how to address school officials today at a school board meeting.
The high school will change from serving students grades 8 through 12 to 9 through 12.
By having most students attend their home school, school officials say they can more effectively balance school enrollments.

“Probably the number one item that we have in the community coming from the community is that they do not trust the district. they probably trust the district, they don’t trust the board and the administration”, candidate David Jordan said.
